The Cowboys and Texans Share a Super Bowl Price From Very Different Places in the Standings
Cowboys and Texans Super Bowl odds sit at the same long-shot level from two different places: the Dallas Cowboys are 3-4 and a game outside the NFC playoff places, the Houston Texans are 2-5 and further back in the AFC, and the market rests on the plain fact that neither club holds a playoff seed with ten games to play. That is the Texas question on the national Super Bowl board, which pays on the winner of Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The live board above carries the current prices for both clubs and the thirty other teams.
How the Super Bowl board reads the Cowboys
The Cowboys' season has swung week to week, and so has their price. ESPN's results show a 28-20 loss to the New York Giants in East Rutherford, New Jersey on the opening Sunday night, a 37-20 win over Washington at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, a 34-31 loss to Baltimore in Rio de Janeiro, a 34-30 win over the Texans in Houston, a 24-16 home loss to Tampa Bay and a 23-13 loss at Green Bay before a 38-21 win at Philadelphia on Monday night, October 26, 2026. They have scored 189 points and allowed 180, the best point margin in the NFC East.
Polymarket's Cowboys contract tracked every turn of that record. It sat at 4.45% on September 1, 2026, before the opener, fell to 2.35% by October 1, rose to 4.1% on October 5 after the win in Houston, and slid to 2.05% on October 20 after the loss in Green Bay. The Monday win in Philadelphia lifted it to 2.75% on October 28. As of October 29, 2026, the best price on the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl was 2%, on Polymarket, with Kalshi a point higher, which treats a Dallas title as about a one-in-fifty outcome.
What the price is saying is that the Cowboys are a playoff question first and a championship question a distant second. ESPN's NFC standings after the Eagles game have Dallas 11th of 16 at 3-4, a game behind Green Bay, which holds the last playoff seed at 4-3. The Wild Card Round, January 16 to 18, 2027, has three games in each conference and the top seed sits it out, so seven clubs per conference reach the bracket and a title from a wild-card seed takes four straight wins. The shorter route is the division: the Giants lead the NFC East at 4-2-1, a game and a half ahead of Dallas, with the Eagles at 2-5 and Washington at 1-4-1. The Cowboys still play the Eagles on Thanksgiving, November 26, the Giants at home on January 3, 2027 and Washington in the final week.
How the Super Bowl board reads the Texans
The Texans started 0-4: losses at home to Buffalo and Cincinnati, at Indianapolis, and at home to the Cowboys. They won at Tennessee 26-3 on October 11 and beat Jacksonville 34-31 in London on October 18, then lost 27-21 in overtime to the Giants in Houston on October 25. At 2-5 they are 13th of 16 in the AFC, second in the AFC South behind the 4-2 Jaguars, and two and a half games behind Cincinnati, which holds the last AFC seed at 4-2. They have scored 165 points and allowed 170.
Polymarket's price on the Texans moved further than the Cowboys' did. It was 4.2% on September 1, 2026, a fraction below the Cowboys, and fell to 0.65% on October 5, 2026, after the fourth straight loss. Two wins carried it back to 3.05% by October 25, and the overtime loss to the Giants took it to 1.85% on October 28. As of October 29, 2026, Kalshi and Polymarket both had the Texans at 2%, the same long-shot level as Dallas, which treats a Houston title as roughly a one-in-fifty outcome despite a record a game worse.
That parity is the most interesting thing the board says about Texas. A club two and a half games out of the last seed is priced level with one a single game out, which means traders are giving the Texans credit for the two wins before the Giants game and for a division that is still open at the top. The Texans are idle on November 1, 2026 and return at the Los Angeles Chargers, 0-6, on November 8.
The clubs priced above both Texas teams
The title is still priced as somebody else's. As of October 29, 2026, the best price on the San Francisco 49ers was 14%, on Polymarket, with Kalshi at 16%; Buffalo was at 12% on both venues and Kansas City at 10% on Polymarket. Minnesota, at 6-0 the league's only unbeaten club, was at 5% on both venues, so the board prices San Francisco well ahead of the best record in football. Both Texas clubs sit in a group of long shots priced at 2% or less. The Cowboys meet San Francisco at home on November 15; the Texans' next three opponents, the Chargers, Cleveland and Indianapolis, are all priced below them.
The venues are deep on both Texas clubs. By October 29, 2026, Kalshi's contracts on Dallas had traded about 11.5M contracts and those on Houston about 9.6M; on Polymarket the Cowboys contract had matched about $1.8M and the Texans contract about $2.7M. More money has gone through Polymarket on the Texans than on the Cowboys this season.
The case against the Super Bowl read
The strongest case against the read is that the two prices should not be equal, because the schedules and the standings are not. Dallas sits a game from a playoff seed with a division leader it still plays at home, six of its last ten games at AT&T Stadium and six of the ten against clubs below .500 on October 29, 2026. Houston needs to make up two and a half games with six of its last ten on the road, at Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Green Bay among them. A reader who holds this view says the Texans' price still carries some of the preseason optimism that had it near the Cowboys in September, and that a 2-5 club two and a half games out is not the equal of a 3-4 club with the best point margin in its division.
The answer to that is the same thing the market is saying: at these prices both clubs are already mostly out of the title picture, and a gap of a point or less between them is smaller than one weekend's results can move either price.
What changes the Super Bowl read
Both prices rest on playoff position, so the read is wrong if either club climbs into a seed quickly and the title price does not follow, or if the market starts pricing the two clubs apart before the standings separate them. The tests are the games that decide it:
• Cowboys vs. Arizona, November 1, 2026, Arlington: a home game against a 2-5 club; a loss would leave Dallas two games under .500 with the 49ers to come.
• Texans at the Chargers, November 8, 2026: the Texans come off their idle week against the AFC's only winless club.
• Cowboys vs. San Francisco, November 15, 2026: the best-priced club on the board, at AT&T Stadium.
• Thanksgiving, November 26, 2026: the Cowboys host the Eagles in a division game that bears on the NFC East.
• The playoff field: the regular season ends January 10, 2027; Polymarket resolves a club to No as soon as it can no longer win, and the Wild Card Round follows on January 16 to 18, 2027.
When the Super Bowl market resolves
The board resolves on Super Bowl LXI, scheduled for February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Kalshi's KXSB-27 contracts, one per club and trading since February 8, 2026, pay Yes if the named club wins the 2027 Pro Football Championship; Kalshi expects settlement on February 14, 2027. Polymarket's Pro Football: 2027 Champion event pays on the team that wins the 2027 NFL league championship, resolves a club to No once it cannot win under NFL rules, names official NFL information as its primary source with a consensus of credible reporting as backup, and resolves to Other if the game is cancelled or postponed past March 31, 2027 with no winner. A Texas club that misses the playoffs is settled at No on Polymarket once it is eliminated, and its Kalshi contract pays nothing when the board settles.
